Description

Singapore shopping area, Tanglin Gardens, river boats in central Singapore area, Anglican church, shopkeepers in city area and children in street. Causeway to Johore, Johore market and Sultan's Palace. Tengah RAF Base. Coolies building swimming pool, refuelling of RAF Brigand, Spitfires of RSAF, Hornet, Brigands, Vampires and Brigands, all RAF Airmen's Mess and quarters, RAAF personnel. Shot through Lincoln bombay. Lincolns are all RAAF made in Australia, of No.1 Bomber Squadron. Powered by 4 Rolls Royce Merlin 102 engines, from Glasgow wartime factory. Sport; volley ball at officers' Mess Tengah and Rugby match on Tengah oval between RAF and RAAF (Out of sequence). Shots from Lockheed Constellation of volcano erupting in Indonesia, New South Wales coastline and School of Air Navigation East Sale. September 1951 then November 1951. Lincoln dropping 14 x 1000lb bombs over jungle, Malaya. No.1 Squadron crewroom. Officers' living quarters Tengah. Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lieut) Bill Kerr and Flying Officer Bill Kilsby. Preparations for bombing raid. Ground staff servicing Lincolns and loading 1000lb bombs. Crew of Lincoln 33 in order are Flt Lieut Jim Moon, Squadron bombing leader and crew bombardier, Sgt. Bob Carey, rear gunner, Wing Commnader Hugh Conaghan DFC and Bar, Squadron CO and captain of aircraft, WO Noel Peel, second pilot, Flt Lieut Bill Kerr, navigator, Flt Lieut John Black, mid-upper gunner. The other crew member is Flt Lieut Bill Cater, radio operator. Lincolns taking off for raid. All four which the Squadron possessed. Bomb doors and bombs away. J. Black in mid-upper turret preparing to strafe target. Control tower Tengah as Lincolns return from raid. J. Moon and H. Conaghan leave aircraft and crew go to raid debriefing. Final scenes are around the crewroom and then departure for the Officers' Mess. The leading figure is Flt. Lieut. George Fitzgerald the Squadron Navigator Leader.
