Australian New Zealand and South African Forces present their flags to the City of Exeter
Description
Presentation of flags to the City of Exeter by Australian New Zealand and South Africa Contingents on 16 May 1918. The ceremony was an expression of gratitude by the troops for the hospitality extended to them by the citizens of Exeter. The inspection and salute of the parade was taken by G O C AIF in UK Major General Sir J W McCay KCMG CB VD. The flags were then presented to the official party. A laurel wreath being placed on the Australian flag by the Mayoress of Exeter. The flags were carried through the streets and hung in the Guild Hall.
