Men of the 4th Battalion at the top of Shrapnel Gully having breakfast from their dixies just behind the battalion lines. On the left is 963 Private Charles Robert Duke and in front is Pte McInnis (later killed in France - believed to be 1301 Pte (later Sergeant) William Donald McInnes of Ariah Park, NSW, killed in action on 30 April 1918); the soldier on the right was not identified.
