Outdoor portrait of two Allied prisoners of war (POW) at a POW camp in Germany. Identified standing on the left is 1546 Private Stephen Hall, 31st Battalion who was a 27 year old painter from Wilston, Queensland (born in Glasgow, Scotland) when he enlisted and embarked for overseas with the 1st Reinforcements from Melbourne on 5 November 1915 aboard HMAT Bakara. He was wounded and captured at Fleurbaix, France on 20 July 1916 and held in a number of POW camps in Germany. On 13 January 1918, he was transferred to Holland and then admitted to the King George Hospital in London on 20 January 1918 for further treatment on his wounded knee. Private Hall arrived back in Australia on 5 July 1918. (DONOR S. HALL)
