Signal log of SMS Emden, 1914
Description
Signal log relating to the First World War service of Vice Admiral John Collings Taswell Glossop. This is the original rough signal log taken from SMS Emden following her destruction on North Keeling Island on 9 November 1914. The signal log, written in German, documents the period from 16 October 1914 to 8 November 1914, the period in which Emden stalked the shipping routes across the Indian Ocean. Included are details on the numerous ships Emden sunk or captured during this time, as well as notes on supplies, course headings and speed.
