North (or Ocean) Beach near Ari Burnu. Medical tents bearing red crosses are at the left and a Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) tent at the centre of the image. This print of is from the collection of 1461 Private Alexander Gordon Walker, 1st Battalion, who was wounded at Gallipoli and returned to Australia in August 1915. A very large print of this photograph, now lost, was made for the Grafton Galleries exhibition of Australian war art and photographs in 1918, and later displayed at the Australian War Memorial Museum in Sydney in the late 1920s.
