This series contains a large number of newspaper cuttings dating from the First World War relating to Field Marshal Lord William Birdwood as well as a smaller number about his family during these years. There are also a number of newspaper cuttings related to his post-war visits to Australia in 1919/20 and during the 1930s. Subjects discussed in these articles include the relationship Birdwood formed with the Anzacs at Gallipoli, the Gallipoli campaign, the evacuation from Gallipoli, the Anzac anniversary in 1916, the re-occupation of the town of Lille in France in 1918, and the return of troops to Australia.
