Mauser Model G98a Rifle
Description
Mauser Model G98 bolt action rifle. The receiver breech ring is marked WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER OBERNDORF 1916 and the left side Gew 98. The rifle is complete with a matching serial number bolt but missing the cleaning rod.
History / Summary
This was the first rifle captured in France by Australians. It was taken from a German raider on 5 May 1916 at Armentieres.
