Studio portrait of 412218 Flying Officer (FO) John Irvine Gordon RAAF, No. 467 Squadron RAF of Cessnock, NSW. FO Gordon completed 30 operations with No. 467 Sqn and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) for skill and fortitude in operations against the enemy in 1943. He later served as a navigator with No. 617 (Special Duties) Squadron, know as the Dambusters, where he was accidentally killed in the United Kingdom on 13 February 1944, after returning from operations on the Antheor Viaduct, near Cannes.
