Description
Collection relating to the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET) and War in Afghanistan service of 8143959 Squadron Leader (later Wing Commander) Sharon Amanda Cooper (later Bown), Royal Australian Air Force, 2000, 2008.
Wallet 1 of 2 - Consists of a Red Cross identity card, issued to then Flying Officer Cooper, in 1999 prior to her deployment to East Timor as a nursing officer with UNTAET in 2000.
Wallet 2 of 2 - Consists of two notebooks used by Squadron Leader Cooper while deployed to Afghanistan as Officer-in-Charge Australian Medical Task Force 2 in Tarin Kowt in 2008. The field message notebook includes task and briefing notes, such as details on the composition, command and facilities of ISAF medical units. The other notebook includes lists of Australian personnel, contact details for friends and family members at home, and brief notes on daily activities and events between July and September 2008. The notebook records the performance (and problems) with supplies and equipment, IED attacks, suicide bombers, interactions with Dutch personnel, and VIP visits.
