Simpson, Grace Elizabeth (Australian Red Cross Society)
Collection relating to the work of Mrs Grace Elizabeth Simpson with the Australian Red Cross Society, Albury Branch, NSW. Her husband, Lieutenant Colonel James William Albert Simpson MC, 36 Battalion AIF, had been killed in action in France in 1917. Mrs Simpson worked with the Red Cross for over 25 years from the time of the Second World War and was awarded the Red Cross Medal for Meritorious Service in 1954.
Collection primarily consists of correspondence from the Australian Red Cross Society regarding the presentation of her medal, as well as many letters of support and congratulations from people invited to attend the presentation cermemony. Also includes a newspaper clipping from 1954 reporting on her award, and several letters of appreciation when Mrs Simpson retired from her roll as Honorary Secretary of the Albury Branch in 1965.
