Description
The graves of S/195 Private (Pte) Harold Clarke, Royal Army Medical Corps (left) and 3532 Pte George Henry Landy, 8th Battalion. A carter from South Melbourne VIC, Pte Landy enlisted in July 1915 and embarked with the 24th Battalion, 8th Reinforcements, aboard HMAT Afric (A19) on 5 January 1916. After arriving in Egypt, Pte Landy was transferred to the 8th Battalion. He was severely wounded during the battalion's first major action in France at Pozieres, later dying on 29 July 1916 at the 1st Canadian General Hospital, Etaples, France.
