Description

Collection relating to the First World War service of 592 Private Leslie Roy Page, Egypt and Europe, 1915-18 and 1960s-80s. Collection consists of three small handwritten diaries detailing Page's service in Egypt, France and Belgium and one autograph book that has been filled with messages and poetry written by Page's acquaintances. The diaries are made up of short entries that speak to a number of topics including Page's time in camp in Egypt, his transfer to the Western Front, time spent on the front lines, loss of his brother, leave, hospital visits and his eventual discharge. One diary also features a list of all the places Page went during his service. Both the diaries and the autograph book include modern/later annotations in blue pen, and additional small entries from the 1960s through to the 1980s.
