Collection related to 2784336 Signalman Stuart Lindsay Weller, 104 Signal Squadron, and his service in Vietnam between 1967 and 1968.
Description
View of a resettlement village near Cat Lo, Vietnam, taken by 2784336 Signalman (Sig) Stuart Lindsay Weller, 104 Signal Squadron, on his way back to Nui Dat from Back Beach. Sig Weller recalls: "In an attempt to 'pacify' the countryside the government decided anybody living in scattered houses was a security risk, and so such people were moved into local villages, or, in this case, to a newly created village. It’s a fair bet those who were moved didn’t like it as they could no longer run a couple of buffalo or farm a couple of rice fields." One of 477 colour 35mm transparencies taken or collected by Sig Weller relating to his service in Vietnam between 1967 and 1968.
