Darwin, NT. C. 1942-06-19. Curtiss P40 Kittyhawk fighter aircraft of the USAAF 49th Fighter Group. The aircraft closest to the camera, number 51, L Ace, was flown by Lieutenant James Bruce Morehead who shot down seven Japanese aircraft while flying out of Darwin with No. 8 Squadron in the 49th Fighter Wing.
