Description

10 cm calibre Medium artillery piece. Steel box trail, with axial recoil system. Splinter-proof shield. Brake arms mounted to front of shield - this is unusual - most artillery pieces of that period mounted them to the rear. A steel trail shifting beam (Trittklinke) with wooden handle is hinged to the rear of the carriage, above the towing eye. Breech ring number matches breech block number and carriage number. Factory proof numbers S5390 and B89. Additonal breech number Kp1654.

History / Summary

The 10 cm K.04/17 was in general use by 1917. It was mounted on a recoil carriage fitted with a hydraulic buffer, running out springs, and a trail with spade. This gun was captured when the Australian Corps broke through the Hindenburg Line in September/October 1918. It was shipped to Australia on SS Bulla, April 1919.
