Izatt, David Watson (Private b.1889 - d.1980)

Collection relating to the First World War service of 704 Private David Watson Izatt. Collection consists of a letter written to his mother and father from Lemnos following the evacuation of the Gallipoli Peninsula. He describes the postal arrangements, the very generous distribution of stores before the evacuation and the burning of ordnance, the evacuation itself, the methods used, emotions at the time and leaving on Hospital Ship Dongola for Mudros Harbour, Lemnos.
