Description
Lee-Enfield No 5 Mk I Rifle. Receiver engraved No5 MKI(F) over 8/47 AB 7948. The butt has a rubber pad and the foregrip has a reinforcing steel cap. The bolt knob has some stable corrosion pitting.
History / Summary
This type of shortened and lightened rifle was commonly referred to as the Jungle Carbine. They were issued to Australian troops serving in the Malayan Emergency.
