Hotchkiss Model 14 Machine Gun
Description
Hotchkiss Model 14 Medium Machine Gun. Rectangular steel box section receiver with a brass pistol grip and rear spade grip. The receiver is marked MITRAILEUSE AUTOMATIQUE HOTCHKISS BREVETTE S.G.D.G. CALIBRE 8 m. The plain air cooled barrel has five large cooling fins near the breech and a gas piston tube underneath. A non original bracket is clamped to the barrel near the fore sight. The top of the receiver has CAPTURED BY 3RD BATT 8-18 in faint black paint.
History / Summary
This gun was captured from the French and used by the German Army. It was recaptured from the Germans at Warfusee - Framerville by the 3rd Battalion AIF on 8 August 1918.
