Two British Mark I tanks (Male foreground and Female background) that were damaged by shell fire ...
Description
Two British Mark I tanks (Male foreground and Female background) that were damaged by shell fire lie abandoned. The wheels lying nearby are probably those that were attached to the rear of the tanks, which were designed to aid in steering. Note the shattered trees. The tank in the foreground is believed to be the one commanded by Lieutenant Story that attacked Gird Trench on 26 September 1916 before being damaged and abandoned. The tank in the background is believed to be D11 'Die Hard', commanded by 2nd Lieutenant Pearsall and was damaged on 16 September 1916 just outside Flers.
