Group portrait of German aviators of Fliegerabteilung 300 (FA300) in various forms of tropical and other uniform, some pre-colonial. The photograph was dropped on No. 1 Squadron Australian Flying Corps (AFC) airfield as a compliment by Oberleutnant Gerhardt Felmy who communicated with members of the AFC in late July 1917 following the capture of Lieutenant (Lt) C.H. Vautin AFC. Identified are, left to right: back row: unknown; unknown; Leutnant (Ltn) Schumann; unknown; unknown; Ltn Tilsche; Dr Fleischmann, physician of 300 Squadron; Oberleutnant Dittmar, wearing a Kalpak, or Turkish hat, with Turkish air emblem. Middle row: unknown; Oberleutnant Daum; Oberleutnant Falke; Captain Hellmuth Felmy (Commander of the Flying Company, and brother to Gerhardt Felmy); unknown; Oberleutnant Gerhardt Felmy; unknown. Front row: possibly Fritzsche; Ltn Schlieff; Ltn Schmarje. Dittmar was himself shot down in October 1917 and taken prisoner by the Australian Flying Corps.
