History / Summary
Major Henry Philip Lamton Higman served with the Royal Engineers during the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches on 7 November 1917. He transferred to the Royal Air Force as a Kite Balloon officer in April 1918. Higman was awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross for actions between August and October 1918. He was also awarded a French Croix de Guerre. The citation for this award is not available. Squadron Leader Higman continued to serve in the RAF after the war and held posts as an Assistant Air Attache in Europe, North and South America. He transferred to the RAF Reserve in 1930. Higman retired to Queensland and died there in 1962.
