Description
Letter from M Hannaford to the editor of the Sydney Morning Herald, Willoughby, 3 October 1916. Attached is a copy of a letter from Second Lieutenant Charles Richard Hannaford, 17th Battalion to his mother [M Hannaford], Somewhere in France, 11 August 1916. In the letter Hannaford gives details of his involvement of the battle of Pozières in the Somme, his pride at the fighting done by Australian soldiers and laments the loss of his men in battle.
