Interview Captain Dick Church United States Army DPR/TV/649
Nui Dat: this is Barrie Gillman reporting from the Australian Task Force in Phuoc Tuy Province, Viet Nam. A little known fact of Australia's civic action programme here in Phuoc Tuy Province is that for the past year half the civil affairs personnel are Americans. The Task Force Team is, in point of fact, a joint Australian American concern. For the past six months the second-in-command of the team has been Captain Dick Church, who comes from Augusta in Georgia. A professional Army man of about 19 years experience he has seen service round the world. He was in Korea and Japan and served out two tours of duty in Germany before coming to Vietnam... The joint nature of the Task Force Civic Action team has I believe, helped mould the success of the programme here in the Province. To confirm this and other points I am talking with Captain Church, soldier and social worker, in the other war against poverty, sickness and ignorance. (The interview follows)
