Letters from John Hardie to his family, 1917-1918
Letters relating to the First World War service of 3842 Private John Hardie, 33rd Infantry Battalion. The letters were written by Private Hardie to his family, whilst he was in Northampton and Brighton, United Kingdom. The letters describe daily life and conditions in the billets, traffic and movement along the Menin Road, the destruction caused by the German attacks and marching to the front line. Private Hardie describes being wounded by shrapnel and the excellent care he received by Australian nurses.
