Description

Postcards relating to the First World War service of 712 Second Lieutenant Henry Miller Lanser, 1st Australian Infantry Battalion, 2 November 1914 - 19 September 1916.

In this collection of postcards from Henry Miller Lanser to his family, the author writes about domestic matters, his arrival in Albany soon after embarkation, and active service in Egypt, Turkey and France. The majority of these postcards visually depict places and people directly related to Lanser's active service, with accompanying notes on subjects such as training at Mena Camp, visiting the Pyramids, travelling to the front in Turkey, the landscape on the Gallipoli Peninsula and artillery used against Australian troops during the first landing at Anzac Cove.
