Notebook of Chalmers, Cresswell Herbert (Lieutenant, b.1922 - d.2009)
Description
The notebook is the only known first-hand account of Platypus 8, an operation which involved inserting small groups into the Balikpapan area of Dutch Borneo to gather information and organise the local people as resistance fighters against the Japanese. The notebook includes names, ages and other information about the local people from various villages, and an account of a encounter with the Japanese in mid July in the Lake Melingtang, Mahakam, Balajan and Kahala River areas.
