[Sound recording] The ruddy platoon
Description
Recording of the song titled 'The ruddy platoon', created as part of the Music and the First World War project. Lyrics written by Howard Fisher and W F Tomkins with music composed by Howard Fisher. Produced by Chris Latham, with David Hidden as vocalist and Alan Hicks on piano. This recording was made at Flat Rock Studios, Sydney, on 23 August 2018. The work is performed in the spirit of the time with some changes made for the modern ear.
Chris Latham, producer of this recording, notes: 'This is a really interesting song with a lovely tune. The words are biting. It is a short song so the focus is on the lyrics. It is a true song and not propaganda. It is really good satire that has come a deep seated experience.'
