Description

Recording of the song titled 'Pack up your troubles', created as part of the Music and the First World War project. Lyrics written by George Asaf (pseudynom of George Henry Powell) with music composed by his brother Felix Powell. Produced by Chris Latham, with Rohan Thatcher as vocalist (baritone), and Alan Hicks on piano. This recording was made at Wesley Music Centre, Canberra, on 8 May 2016. The work is performed in the spirit of the time with some changes made for the modern ear.

Chris Latham, producer of this recording, notes: 'This is jingoistic with a perfect, catchy tune. It uses repetition to build familiarity. It is not a particularly interesting piece of music but the chorus is extremely catchy. It also features sentiment.'
