[Sound recording] The Blue Dragoons
Recording of the song titled 'The Blue Dragoons', created as part of the Music and the First World War project. Lyrics written by Frederick Edward Weatherly with music composed by Kennedy Russell. Produced by Chris Latham, with David Hidden as vocalist and Alan Hicks on piano. This recording was made at Flat Rock Studios, Sydney, on 27 November 2018. The work is performed in the spirit of the time with some changes made for the modern ear.
Chris Latham, producer of this recording, notes: 'This song is an absolute cracker. It is very catchy and features the snare drum in the rat-a-tat sounds. It is a peacetime song about the glory of being in the army. It packages the idea that if you are in the army, then you will get the girl. It is very catchy and you will be singing the chorus by the end of the song if you are listening to it. This song makes you feel happy and very upbeat. It is a beautifully made song that sits well in the voice.'
