[Sound recording] Battle of the Nations
Description
Recording of the instrumental piece titled 'Battle of the Nations', created as part of the Music and the First World War project. Instrumental march composed by E T Paull. Produced by Chris Latham, with Alan Hicks on piano. This recording was made at Flat Rock Studios, Sydney, on 26 June 2018. The work is performed in the spirit of the time with some changes made for the modern ear.
Chris Latham, producer of this recording, notes: 'This piece is highly evocative of all the national songs from the living room perspective. It is representative of patriotic internationalism. There was a lot this type of music and this is a good example of the genre. It is cliched now, but this wouldn't have been the case at the time it was written.'
