Description
Studio portrait of S5362 Ordinary Seaman John Vincent Cole. From Many, NSW, Cole enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy on 31 March 1941. He was assigned to HMAS Rushcutter, before also serving onboard HMAS Cerberus, and then transferring to HMAS Sydney II. Cole was on board when HMAS Sydney II was sunk in the Indian Ocean by the German auxiliary cruiser Kormoran on 20 November 1941. He was 19 years old.
