Portrait of three men including NX13370 Private Mark Strong, 2/2 Battalion
Description
Studio portrait of three men in a cardboard wallet-style frame. Mark Strong (centre) is flanked by two members of the 41st Infantry Battalion (The Byron Regiment).
NX13370 Private (Pte) Mark Strong, 2/2 Battalion, of Corndale, NSW. A butter maker and churner in civilian life, Pte Strong enlisted on 26 April 1940. Following a series of promotions Strong achieved the rank of lieutenant. He was later killed in action in Papua on 21 November 1942, aged 27 and is buried in the Port Moresby (Bomana) War Cemetery.
