AJRP Sub-Series name: Post-surrender Rabaul material received from HQ 8 Military District. This item is a copy of the finalised plan for the formation of four Japanese camps in Rabaul. The four camps mentioned include the Akane, Nishiboekiten, Kagamihara and Tauril Camps, which were headed by Captains SAKAMOTO, IMAMURA, SUWABE and ASAYAMA respectively. The 17th Division and the 39th Independent Mixed Brigade were the main components of these camps. Each camp consisted of approx. 10,000 servicemen. Attachments include an organisational chart of a hospital for camp residents, information on the number of hospital rooms was responsible for the formation of camps, and this item specifies duties assigned to each officer temporarily attached to the organisation.
