Description

2791959 Sergeant John Geoffrey Fairley (Rtd) was born in Wollongong NSW. He grew up in Wollongong and always had a passion for cameras and photography. This interview discusses his time as a National Serviceman as a Royal Australian Army Educational Corps (Public Relations) Vietnam Army Photographer in Vietnam from the 21 January 1970 through to 10 December 1970. John was flown to all parts of Vietnam to document the war. This includes the documentation of the SAS on SAS HILL at Nui Dat where he was stationed. John also covered Operation Hammersley in the Long Hai Hills. This interview also shows the letter John received when his first daughter Jana was born when he was in Vietnam, it was number 88 that his wife Pam had sent to him.
