Description
Collection compiled by Alan Wood in preparation to write the history of Services Reconnaissance Department (SRD) commissioned by the Z Special Unit Association. This wallet consists of handwritten notes taken from various official sources including AWM59, AWM54 and NAA files A3269. Topics include situation prior to and the establishment of Allied Intelligence Bureau in 1942, training, communications, organisation, control and formation of SRD. SRD personnel and operations including Tiger, Flounder, Jaywick and Lagarto, NEFIS III, FELO, NEA, operations, expansion of AIB operations and organisation, Politician, Optician, Agas, Semut, administrative and executive adjustments. This wallet largely covers the period 1942 to 1944.
