Notebook of Patrick Joseph Lattin
Description
Notebook relating to the Second World War service of TX50 Patrick Joseph Lattin, 2/12th Australian Infantry Battalion. Lattin was a captured by the Germans as a prisoner of war in May 1941, remaining in captivity until 1945.
This notebook contains coloured pencil drawings by Patrick Joseph Lattin and several fellow prisoners, as well as autographs of many Allied prisoners of war, and diary entries dated between 17 February and 25 April 1945. In his diary entries, Lattin records his experiences of being on a forced march, including passing through many towns, the lack of food, getting sick, and seeing American planes frequently overhead.
