The entries include encounters with the Japanese prior to the capitulation of Singapore, the laying down of arms and march to Changi after the capitulation, and daily life in the prisoner of war camps. McIntyre focusses on food supplies and meals, entertainment around camp such as gardening and sport, the work parties he was assigned to, illnesses and deaths, and rumours concerning events outside of the camp.
