Diary of Ebenezer 'Edward' Barron, 1901
Description
Diary relating to the Boer War service of 126 Corporal Ebenezer "Edward" Barron, 2nd Tasmanian Imperial Bushmen, Australian and South Africa, 1901.
A small handwritten notebook kept as a diary by Barron during his service in South Africa. Barron opens the diary while in camp at Hobart, and covers his embarkation on SS Chicago in March and subsequent service associated with ambulance work and medical support in South Africa. The notebook is written in pencil but some entries have been re-traced in red pen, and on the whole is difficult to read. It is also interspersed with poems and verses.
