OP Commando Shield (Part 1), Enroute to Objective Kodiak.
Operation Commando Shield (a joint US/ANSF ground force mission). Part 1 - enroute to Objective Kodiak. Afghan desert filmed from the cockpit of CH-47D Chinook A15-106 by Captain Jason Otter, 5th Aviation Regiment (5 AVN) as the aircraft heads to an extraction during Operation Commando Shield (a joint US/ANSF ground force mission). Captain Otter later noted: "Footage commences with us crossing a river on the northern edge of the Reg [Registan] Desert to the west of Kandahar. Overfly a Nomad Camp (tents) and Camels. Australian aircraft would fly at 50' and vary their track to avoid overflying perceived threats, while remaining in a loose combat formation. Flying Pilot was Captain Lukas Wild, and I believe Aircrewman Right Gunner Cpl Darryl Rowe". Note the fluffy dice hanging in the cabin of A15-106 (as placed there by Captain Lukas Wild). See also AWM2019.311.8.78 to AWM2019.311.8.79 for more footage of this event. Note the fluffy dice hanging in the cabin.
