Letters relating to the internment of Antonin Horcicka at Dachau Concentration Camp, October 1944 - January 1974
Letters relating to the Second World War internment of Antonin Horcicka at Dachau Concentration Camp, 19 October 1944 - 25 January 1974.
This file includes ten handwritten letters by internees at Dachau Concentration Camp penned during October and November 1944 following a request from fellow internee Antonin Horcicka. The letters reveal the personal thoughts of internees expressed in contemplative tones but contrasting terms, with some letters sharing positive stories and hopeful messages whilst others reflect the resignation of internees with references to shared suffering, lessons learned and the regret of lost years. The majority of these letters are accompanied by certified translations prepared during the 1970s including an additional letter written in 1946 by Polish priest and former Dachau internee Waclaw Kaminski following his return to Poland.
