Description
Melbourne, Vic, c. 1915-01. Portrait of 424 Trooper (Tpr) Ernest Stanley Impey, 9th Light Horse Regiment, 1st AIF, wearing full uniform and kit, mounted on his horse. Tpr Impey fought at Gallipoli, in the Middle East and in France, before being invalided out with the rank of Corporal in 1916-01. He returned to serve in France during 1917 and 1918 as a gunner with the 1st Divisional Ammunition Column. He returned to Australia and was discharged in 1919. Ernest Impey died in 1978 at the age of 87. (Donor M. Cooke)
