Collection relating to the Second World War service of Lieutenant Colonel William Watt Leggatt, DSO, MC, 2/40 Infantry Battalion, Timor and Changi, 1942-1945.

Wallet 2 of 2 - Collection contains records prepared by Lieutenant Colonel Leggatt as commanding officer of 2/40th Australian Infantry Battalion or "Sparrow Force" during the defence of Timor and later when in captivity at Changi prisoner of war camp. Collection includes nominal rolls, casualty lists, financial reports and operational reports for Sparrow Force units, and recommendations for honours and awards.

Account of Action, Sparrow Force Timor submitted to LHQ Aust by Lieut Col Leggatt in October 1945;
POW camp war diary, Oesapa Besar Timor for period October-September 1942, submitted to LHQ Aust on 4 October 1945;
Appendices attached to Account of Action report including topography, Dutch troops, medical matters, and Combined Defence Report Centre;
Financial arrangements - Sparrow Force Timor, submitted to the Staff Paymaster AIF Malaya, outlining loss of unit finding, August 1945;
Report on and lists of suspected deserters from Sparrow Force, submitted to LHQ Aust (AG Branch) in October 1945;
Account of Action, 19-23 February 1942 submitted by Captain R E Ransom 2/1st Fortress Company including original war diary for February 1942-August 1944 [c 1945];
Recommendations for honours and awards submitted to Military Secretary LHQ for awards to Sparrow Force personnel for service both during the Timor campaign and later as POWs, 1945-1946; and
