Collection relating to Neil Davis, war cameraman and correspondent
Original caption: "Schoolboys' interstate (Australian Rules) football carnival, Brisbane - July 1948. Neil Davis was no. 1 ruckman for Tasmania. This schoolboys side was the first Tasmanian representative team to beat the mighty Victorians - that means any representative team side (the first senior team to beat Victoria was in 1961 - maybe still the only other time). Tasmania beat all other state sides in 1948 except West Australia, who beat them in the final. Photo shows Davis flying the ball against New South Wales."
Photographs relating to Neil Davis, war cameraman and correspondent. This collection was collated by author Tim Bowden in the research and publication of his biographical book "One Crowded Hour - Neil Davis, Combat Cameraman 1934-1985". Captions on the reverse of the photographs are a mix of comments from Davis, Bowden and/or the original owner of the photograph (often unidentified).
