Original caption: "FIRE MISSION - The Monitor, "battleship of the US Navy's River Assault Force", fires 40mm shells into an enemy position during a recent operation in the Mekong Delta. Monitors such as this one participated heavily in the combined River Assault Force/US Army 9th Division battle last night against a large enemy force along the Rach Nui River south of Saigon.
