Interview with Lieutenant Colonel Khan DPR/TV/1072
The 5th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, has been taking part in Operation Overlander in the north west zone of Phuoc Tuy Province since the mission began on April 3. Together with other elements of the Task Force the Diggers have been encountering stiff resistance from well entrenched Viet Cong units. The VC are well trained and equipped as the Commanding Officer of the 5th Battalion, Lt Col Colin Khan of Woollahra, NSW, found earlier this week. Colonel Khan was directing his battalion's actions from a Sioux light helicopter at the time, when he was almost tricked into landing by VC main force troops. QUESTIONS: 1. What happened during this phase of Operation Overlander? 2. What has been 5 RAR's role on Operation Overlander? 3. Colonel. What success have you had?
