Collection relating to the Boxer Uprising service of Gunner (later Lieutenant Commander) John Denzil Etoile Turner, HMCS Protector, Australia and China, 1900-1901, and the First World War service of his son Sub-Lieutenant John George James Turner, Royal Australian Naval Brigade, Australia, 1916-1918.

Folder 2 of 2 - Consists of three certificates relating to Sub-Lieutenant Turner's appointments and promotions in the Royal Australian Naval Brigade. The folder includes Turner's appointment as a midshipman in the Citizen Naval Forces in January 1916, appointment to HMAS Encounter as a midshipman in the Royal Australian Naval Reserve in October 1916, and appointment as an acting sub-lieutenant in the Royal Australian Naval Brigade to HMAS Cerberus (as an additional for HMAS Garnet) in May 1918.
