Studio portrait of QX12254 Private (Pte) George Albert Pill, 2/26 Australian Infantry Battalion. He enlisted on 7 July 1940 in Emerald, QLD. Pte Pill was taken as a Prisoner of War (PoW) during the Fall of Singapore in 1942, along with another 14,972 Australians captured. He spent time imprisoned in Singapore, Burma and in the Fukuoka Camp in Japan. Pte Pill returned to Australia at the conclusion of the war and was discharged on 4 December 1945.
