c. 1916. A portrait of 374 Private James Allan (written as Allen on the photograph), 36th Battalion. Private Allan was killed in action at Messines on 1917-07-07, aged 26. This portrait is taken from a composite photograph presented to the Abermain RSL by the ladies of the Abermain Comforts Fund. The composite photograph comprises portraits of the twenty five servicemen from Abermain who lost their lives in the war of 1914-1918 (Australian War Memorial negative number P01920.001).
