Carlton, Vic. 1942-11-09. WAAAF Meteorological Assistants preparing a "radio-sonde" for release from the Commonwealth Meteorological Bureau. The Meteorological Assistant on the right is holding the box which contains small weather instruments from which data is recorded and transmitted in flight and is borne aloft by a large balloon.
